Eileen and I went to the Ravens' first preseason game of the year on Friday. The New York Giants were in town, and although the final score doesn't show it, the Ravens controlled this game when it mattered. McNair took the field for the first time for the Ravens, and looked to be in total control of the offense. McNair capped off an 80 yard, 12 play drive with a scrambling, rushing touchdown. It would be his only series of the game, as Kyle Boller played the rest of the 1st quarter, as well as the 2nd and 3rd. Don't let the numbers deceive you, Boller looked like his old self. The offense just doesn't seem to click with Boller at the helm. The Ravens led the game 16-7, but the 2nd and 3rd team let it slip away, mostly in the 4th quarter, and Jay Feely made a 29-yard kick with time running out to give the Giants a 17-16 win. But judging by the way the first team offense and defense (with Ray Lewis not playing, "coaches decision", I don't know what that's all about) played, if the Ravens can stay healthy this season, they're going to be in the playoff picture.
